Samsung unveils newest fitness gadgets for health buffs

Samsung unveiled its newest line of devices designed for fitness buffs and sports enthusiasts alike with the Samsung Gear Fit2 and Gear IconX.

The Gear Fit2, a sleek GPS sports band, and the Gear IconX, cord-free fitness earbuds, are devices with the features and capabilities of smartphones tucked into a compact and hassle-free design for fitness enthusiasts looking to improve their workout experience.

Samsung’s Gear Fit2 boasts stand-alone GPS tracking capabilities, allowing its wearer to monitor not only their current route or location, but also their speed, time, stress levels, number of reps, or calories burned during their workout sessions.

The Fit2 also includes a ‘Social Challenge’ feature for fitness buffs looking to challenge one another in fitness routines, which Samsung hopes will help create an environment for motivational and friendly competitions among its users.

The Fit2 has a 4GB storage capacity and a curved Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display for easy viewing of data for its users. The band is also water and dust-resistant, allowing fitness buffs to use it during workout routines under any condition.

Alongside the Gear Fit2 is the Gear IconX, fitness earbuds which boast a cord-free design that allows its users to listen to music without the hassle of tangled wires during their workout sessions.

The IconX includes in-ear fitness trackers and audio feedback features, which can give fitness buffs real-time updates and motivation from an artificial coach’s voice throughout their fitness routines.

The IconX also has a 4GB storage capacity, which can store up to 1,000 songs, and a Smart Touch function, allowing its users to control the volume, select play, pause, or skip songs with a few simple taps of the earbuds.

It also comes with an ambient noise feature, which allows its users to hear high-frequency sounds and be aware of their surroundings, while still being able to listen to music, during their workout sessions.

Both the Fit2 and IconX were designed to be standalone devices but can also be paired with one another. Both are also compatible with non-Samsung devices, working with any device with an Android 4.4 OS or above and 1.5 GB RAM.

The Gear Fit2 will go on sale for P8,490 while the Gear IconX will be priced at P7,990. Both can already be bought at select stores, but will be available at all Samsung stores nationwide by the last week of July.
