WATCH: ‘Metroid Prime 4’ confirmed for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has done right and wrong by its fans with this “Metroid Prime 4” game announcement.

The company had done right because they finally confirmed development of a new sequel from a well-loved game series that started its legacy in 2002.

It has done wrong (just a little bit) because not a shred of information was revealed about the game during its presentation at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017 in Los Angeles, apart from it being developed for the Nintendo Switch.

However, according to Kotaku, a fact sheet for the game mentioned that “Metroid Prime” series producer Kensuke Tanabe is leading a “talented new development team.”

FEATURED STORIES

Earlier sequels “Metroid Prime 2” (2004) and “Metroid Prime 3” (2007) were developed by Retro Studios. The games were considered some of the best that the gaming industry have ever seen.

“Metroid Prime” is a first-person action adventure game that was released on the GameCube console in November 2002. It follows Samus Aran in her adventures and assignments to wipe out threats to the Galactic Federation.

The game is also part of the larger Metroid franchise which began in 1986 with the release of the game “Metroid” for the Nintendo Famicom Disk System. Alfred Bayle/JB
