People look for quarantine lovers online through Craigslist

Some citizens of New York City in the United States are looking for companions through the COVID-19 pandemic. They are doing so by posting about it on the digital classified advertisement platform Craigslist, according to The New York Post last Tuesday, March 17.
For instance, a woman by the name of Kelly Lions stated that she is seeking a “coronavirus quarantine boyfriend,” describing herself as “an attractive [30-year-old] professional female looking for an attractive [30 to 40-year-old] professional male.”
Her “quarantine boyfriend” could stay for a maximum of two weeks for “whenever we’re forced to self-quarantine,” the ad said.
Aside from offering her apartment, she also stated that she has a big desk, perfect for a work-from-home setup. She has various movie-streaming subscriptions, boardgames, and claims she can do “gourmet cooking.”
She got over a hundred applications. She said she made the wanted ad to gain followers on Instagram.
“I didn’t expect to get 100, 150 applications that were serious through Craigslist,” Lions was quoted as saying. Indeed, she has received 200 to 300 responses via Instagram.
Another post cited by the report, from a 42-year-old business professional, said: “If it’s end of days we can at least go satisfied, and if we live through it then we have an interesting story to share for the rest of our lives.”
Aside from the “interesting story,” the person who penned the posting would also “love to connect with someone [and] gather some food necessities.” They could also “hide together” and “have fun while doing it.” The posting has reportedly been flagged for removal.
Another posting from Brooklyn was looking for “quarantine service.” The poster described himself as a “young good looking guy” who preferred “Latino men.”
A 63-year-old man also wants a female companion to “quarantine together.” However they must first “meet up for coffee and discuss” the arrangement.
The United States government has advised the public to limit their social interactions to avoid the spread of the virus. Dating sites are now also discouraging dates and asking its users to get to know people virtually instead. Cha Lino/JB
