Weekly PC download charts: ‘Borderlands 3’ launches on Epic; ‘Civilization VI’, ‘Monster Hunter: World’ rise again

Loot-em-up “Borderlands 3” launched on the Epic Game Store, while competitor “Monster Hunter: World” and grand strategy “Civilization VI” were boosted by sales on multiple storefronts.
Though “Borderlands 3” did not debut on Steam, instead subject to an exclusivity deal with the relatively new Epic Game Store, its impact can be seen through chart-topping performances across the Humble and Fanatical storefronts, which are both authorized to re-sell Epic activation codes.
Those holding out for a Steam release will be waiting until April 2020, or longer if they are sitting tight for a collected Game of the Year edition (if not buying on console instead).
Nevertheless, issues with getting the game’s launch version running smoothly coupled with the Epic Game Store’s current lack of community or support forums meant that Steam’s “Borderlands 2” discussion section experienced an influx of “Borderlands 3”-related queries.
Top on Steam was a content pack for team action game “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive”, themed around the Starladder Berlin 2019 tournament that took place earlier in the month.
The Viewer Pass conferred upon owners some exclusive missions and virtual graffiti for use in “CS:GO” matches, participation in a tournament prediction challenge, plus a selection of virtual weapon decals, and team logo images for use within the Steam TV chat window.
Below that, ahistorical fantasy action adventure “GreedFall” stayed ahead of a resurgent, sale-discounted “Monster Hunter: World”, the latter offering the sort of 4-player battles against giant foes and satistfying cyle of equipment and weapon upgrades that “Borderlands” players are familiar with.
“Civilization VI”, too, enjoyed an uptick in sales interest on Humble and Fanatical, temporarily lowered in price following the launch of a sizable September game update and chatter around an amusingly improbable Battle Royale event that took place last week.
