FEATURED STORIES

The official Atlus Instagram account made a blunder on June 9, 2023, after it released trailers for its upcoming games. The page had deleted them at the time of writing, but many people quickly reuploaded the trailer on their social media.

The first is for Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the Persona 3 turn-based RPG. Both share the original plot involving a group of high school students uncovering the secrets of the Dark Hour.

The latter occurs at midnight, turning Gekkoukan High School into a mysterious tower called Tartarus. These students gain powers called Personas to explore the tower and eliminate the Dark Hour.

The remake has significant quality-of-life changes over the existing game. The improved graphics and art style reminiscent of Persona 5 are the most noticeable. For example, you can explore a more detailed city with free camera movement.

Also, the menus look like Persona 5’s, except it’s blue instead of red. Combat also looks Persona 5-ish, letting you explore Tartarus with a third-person perspective. Moreover, you can roam on a wider map, letting you sneak around monsters.

The Persona 3 Reload trailer seems to use the original’s party split mechanic. It lets you send party members away to collect items and battle monsters themselves to become stronger quicker. Persona 3 Reload producer Ryota Niitsuma and chief director Kazuhisa Wada shared more details about the game.

They confirmed it would only feature content from the original Persona 3. Consequently, you cannot play as a female protagonist or the FES expansion. Also, the characters will have new Persona 3 Reload voice actors:

  • Protagonist: Aleks Le
  • Junpai Iori: Zeno Robinson
  • Yukari Takeba: Heather Gonzalez
  • Mitsuru Kirijo: Allegra Clark
  • Akihiko Sanada: Alejandro Saab
  • Fuuka Yamagishi: Suzie Young
  • Shinjiro Aragaki: Justice Slocum
  • Ken Amada: Justine Lee
  • Aigis: Dawn Bennett

Persona 5 Tactica vs. Persona 5

The Persona 5 Tactica trailer appeared along with the Persona 3 Reload teaser. Unlike the latter, it will have a different story and genre from the original.

The original Persona 5 is a turn-based RPG involving students using Personas to change the hearts of evildoers. Meanwhile, Tactica will transport these characters into another world.

Their overarching goal is to return home. Also, the spinoff features a new look. It uses miniature versions of the characters, similar to Funko Pop or Nendoroid figures.

The upcoming game introduces a new playable character, a purple-haired lady wielding a spear. Moreover, she mentions a “Rebel Corps,” which considers the protagonist’s team as members.

The most significant change is the new tactical gameplay. It seems similar to Fire Emblem and Advance Wars, where you command troops on a tile-based map.

Conclusion

Atlus accidentally posted the Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica trailers early. As a result, fans raved while waiting for a new installment of their favorite titles.

You may play both games on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Windows. Also, you may play them on Game Pass. P5T will launch on November 17, 2023.
